DaHui Lawyers opens new office in Wuhan
The “Chicago of China” is the ideal location for our latest new office: the gateway to Central China; the greater region’s political, financial, commercial, cultural, and academic center; and a global hub for this century’s must crucial industries, such as semiconductors, biotech, new energy, optics, and healthcare. Wuhan is moving into pole position in the world through its steadfast yet innovative drive – and is exactly where we belong.
Land of a Thousand Links
More and more businesses are turning to Wuhan alongside powerhouses such as Beijing and Shanghai, thanks to Wuhan’s strategic location, high-tech manufacturing prowess, top-tier talent pool, research clusters, and the fact that it is already a hub for hundreds of listed companies and the Fortune Global 500 – many of whom we are proud to call our clients. In the “Land of 1,000 Lakes”, with Asia’s largest river flowing through it, Wuhan has for centuries served as an international trading center, and currently boasts Central China’s largest and busiest port as well as many of the fastest rail links leading all over the country. Through policy, infrastructure, and urban planning, Wuhan transitioned from trade to steel to manufacturing to tech, and has established not only 80+ higher education institutions and associated research clusters – Wuhan University’s Academy of International Law and Global Governance is one of China’s top 25 think tanks – but also partnerships with world-class institutions across the globe, e.g., UC Berkeley and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research.
The city has developed that rare sort of symbiotic relationship between academia and business found in the Bay Area and Boston/Cambridge. In fact, Jones Lang LaSalle group named Wuhan the 8th most dynamic city in the world, with pioneering ventures springing up every day. A single business park in Wuhan, Optics Valley of China, is home to over 100,000 companies, and within that massive business park is the Biolake, which alone contains 3,000 companies generating new medicines, medical equipment, wearable devices, and thousands of patents. Business incubators, the start-ups springing from them, and public spaces designed by world-leading firms such as Sasaki further make Wuhan an attractive place for those who want to change the world.
Sharing Space and Culture
DaHui Lawyers is proud to become a part of this city and culture of the cutting edge. In the center of the financial district, the “Wall Street of Wuhan”, our neighbors in the New World International Trade Tower include a U.S. consulate general, the Canadian Trade Office in Wuhan, the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office of Wuhan, and strategic branches of Deloitte, Cushman & Wakefield, Honda Trading, and many more. Surrounded by blue lakes and green parks, the 50+ floor tower we call home also received LEED Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
Our new office of up to fifty lawyers, drawing on talent from top local and national universities as well as from our other offices, shares the values of commitment, innovation, and professionalism that have propelled both DaHui Lawyers and Wuhan onto the world stage. The firm vision of “One DaHui Culture” finds a natural home in Wuhan, where our new office – not just a branch but rather another hub alongside our headquarters in Beijing and offices in New York and Shanghai – can serve the forefront of local businesses and neighborhood MNCs as well as national and international commerce.
