Dr Alix Frank-Thomasser receives the prestigious Marianne Beth Award
Dr. Alix Frank-Thomasser is this year's recipient of the Marianne Beth Award. The award, donated by the Austrian Bar Association (ÖRAK), was presented to her by Austrian Bar’s (ÖRAK) President Armenak Utudjian in Vienna on September 27, 2024. The ÖRAK has awarded this Award to Alix Frank-Thomasser for her work to shed light in Austria’s history of the Lawyers Profession during the years 1938 to 1945 (www.advokaten1938.com ) and for her tireless engagement to foster women legal careers through the international Women In Law Initiative (www.womeninlaw.info) which she founded together with its Vice MMag. Franz J Heidinger back in 2016.
The rule of law and the principles associated with this award are the most important foundation of an orderly, democratic and peaceful community and a guarantee for a safe and livable country in Austria. Every day, lawyers and trainee lawyers make a crucial contribution to protecting and expanding the rule of law in Austria.
This commitment to the rule of law often goes far beyond the core professional area and also includes legal work for the benefit of society as well as services for the further development of one's own profession. In order to make this commitment visible, to reward it and to create a role model, the Austrian Bar Association (ÖRAK) is establishing the Marianne Beth Prize in memory of the first female lawyer registered in Austria, Marianne Beth (née von Weisl, 1890-1984). The Marianne Beth Award is intended to honor special achievements by colleagues that go beyond the core professional area for the benefit of society and for the further development of the profession.
